Katy Perry shares sweet nod to Justin Trudeau: ‘The life I deserve’
Katy Perry has offered fans another glimpse into her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while reflecting on the changes in her personal life.
The 41-year-old pop star shared a video montage on Instagram on Sunday, June 28, featuring short clips from recent weeks. The montage was set to her new song, Watch It Burn, and included several moments showing Perry with Trudeau, 54.
The pair have reportedly been dating since late 2025, following Perry’s separation from her former fiancé Orlando Bloom last year. Neither Perry nor Trudeau’s representatives were quoted in the supplied report as making a separate formal announcement about the relationship.
Perry recently spoke about how having love in her life had affected her outlook during an appearance on Justin Tranter’s Unfamous podcast.
“I have love in my life now. That’s transformed me,” the singer said.
Her new song, which features My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, was reportedly influenced in part by the changes in her personal life after the end of her relationship with Bloom.
The track explores Perry “wrestling with [her] dark side” before choosing to focus on “the light.” The Instagram montage appeared to connect that theme with recent moments from her life, including her time with Trudeau.
Perry’s post came one day after she was forced to cancel a scheduled appearance at the Werchter Boutique music festival in Belgium because of severe weather concerns.
The singer said the cancellation was ordered by authorities as an approaching storm raised concerns about crowd safety.
“Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns,” she wrote on Instagram.
Perry explained that she learned the performance would not go ahead while she was preparing to take the stage.
“I am sorry I can’t change the weather, and even sorrier that all of us can’t be together tonight. I was looking forward to being back after 17 years, I was even gonna wear the same outfit from that 2009 show again. I love you all, please get home safe,” she added along with a sad face emoji.
The cancelled performance would have marked Perry’s return to the festival after 17 years. Her reference to wearing the same outfit from her 2009 appearance added a nostalgic detail to the message for fans who had expected to see her perform.
Despite the disappointment surrounding the cancellation, Perry’s latest montage focused largely on positive moments from her recent life.
By including clips with Trudeau alongside her new music, Perry appeared to acknowledge the relationship more openly while presenting the song as part of a broader period of personal transformation.
