Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘foolproof’ scheme puts Palace in tough spot
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly made preparations for a much-anticipated visit to the United Kingdom, placing the Royal Family under pressure over security arrangements and the possibility of a meeting with King Charles.
The Sussex Office has not officially confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel to Britain. However, palace sources have claimed that the King has offered the couple and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, royal accommodation for the proposed trip.
Reports surrounding the possible visit have prompted mixed reactions, particularly over whether Harry and Meghan will meet the King. Sources have suggested that the Montecito-based couple remains confident that bringing their children to Britain would make it difficult for the Royal Family to avoid a reunion.
Prince William and Queen Camilla are reportedly less enthusiastic about the potential visit. However, palace officials may still have to consider how any decision would be viewed publicly, especially if Archie and Lilibet travel with their parents.
Sources quoted by the Mail on Sunday claimed that the reported trip may involve more than a family reunion, describing the situation as a possible “trap” for the palace.

“It’s a challenge,” the insiders said. “They are saying: ‘Try and ignore us when we are here with the kids’. If they don’t meet up [with Harry and Meghan], then they can say: ‘We came to you and we were ignored’.”
According to the report, the presence of the children could also increase pressure on the King to provide publicly funded security for the Sussex family. Sources argued that failing to arrange adequate protection could expose the palace to accusations of “endangering the children”.
The insiders described the alleged strategy as a “huge new low as a tactic”. They suggested, however, that the proposed visit could produce a favorable outcome for Harry regardless of whether a royal meeting takes place.
If the King agrees to see the family, Harry could secure an opportunity to rebuild contact between Charles and his grandchildren. If no meeting occurs, the Duke could still receive the security arrangements he has long sought for visits to Britain.
Harry has repeatedly raised concerns about the safety of Meghan and their children while in the UK. Security has remained one of the central issues affecting whether the family travels together to the country.
The latest reports have also suggested that the issue has contributed to “decidedly frosty” relations between King Charles, Queen Camilla and Prince William. No member of the Royal Family has publicly addressed those claims.
For now, the visit and any related reunion remain unconfirmed. Further details about the family’s travel plans, security arrangements and possible meetings with senior royals are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
