Prince Harry might have an ‘excuse’ to miss reunion with Prince William

A royal expert has claimed that Meghan Markle’s baby due date could be an “excuse” for Prince Harry to miss a reunion with his brother, Prince William.

According to ED!, the Duke of Sussex might miss the chance to meet the Duke of Cambridge on the 60th birthday of their mother, Princess Diana.

Harry has not yet confirmed whether he will be flying back to the United Kingdom (UK) for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother. The statue will be revealed at Kensington Palace on July 1 to mark what would have been her 60th birthday.

The event will take place near to Meghan’s due date, which is still a mystery, though the American duchess told Oprah Winfrey the couple’s second child, a girl, is expected in the “summertime”.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said if there is a clash between Meghan’s due date and the date of the statue unveiling it would give Harry a reason to avoid a potentially awkward reunion with his family.

Los Angeles-based Schofield, who runs the royal news website To Di For Daily, told the Mirror: “I imagine that Prince Harry is relieved that Meghan’s due date is so close to the event because it is the perfect excuse for the prince to sit this one out and stay at home in the States.”

“I suspect that the child will be born around the time of the unveiling and that they will name the baby girl Diana. We’ve learned since Prince Philip’s funeral that there was little to no reconciliation between the princes,” she added.

It remains unknown whether Harry or Meghan would be comfortable with him flying back to the UK as she was about to give birth or had just given birth.

“It would be catastrophically unfair for Prince Harry to return to the UK for Princess Diana’s statue unveiling and to fight behind closed doors with Prince William about Meghan Markle. This event needs to be about their mother and it needs to honour their mother,” said the royal expert.

Russell Myers, the Mirror’s Royal Editor, said Harry and Meghan “really want to be there” for the statue unveiling, but Harry could be forced to skip the event due to the impending birth of his daughter.
