Golden Globes Host Humorously Roasts Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

At the Golden Globes 2024, host Jo Koy didn’t hold back in his comedic monologue, targeting the “rich, white, and dysfunctional” Royal Family, and specifically taking a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Despite the couple’s absence from the event, they became the subject of a pointed joke delivered by Koy.

The Duchess of Sussex was already a topic of discussion before the ceremony in LA, particularly with regards to her former ‘Suits’ co-stars. The conversation turned to whether Meghan would rejoin the cast for future projects, amidst reports of her potential return to television as her character Rachel Zane.

Jo Koy humorously conflated the plots of TV shows ‘Succession’ and ‘The Crown’ before aiming a specific joke at Harry and Meghan’s lucrative Netflix deal, eliciting laughter even from Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos. Koy quipped, “Harry and Meghan Markle got paid millions for doing absolutely nothing… and that’s just by Netflix.”

Meanwhile, former ‘Suits’ co-star Patrick J. Adams, when asked about Meghan’s possible return, played along with the idea of their characters fixing things in LA, noting Meghan’s current popularity. In a lighter moment, Adams teased an interviewer unaware of Meghan’s recent developments, saying he would fill them in later.

However, Meghan’s absence was also felt when the ‘Suits’ cast had a mini-reunion on the Golden Globes stage to present an award. Additionally, ‘Suits’ actress Gina Torres revealed during a red carpet interview that Meghan is not part of the cast’s vibrant texting group, describing their current text thread as “insane.”
