Meghan Markle Backed Over Wedding Anniversary Photo Choices

Meghan Markle has received support from royal watchers and commentators after some social media users questioned why senior members of the royal family were absent from the photographs she shared to mark her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated the occasion on May 19 by posting a collection of previously unseen images from her wedding day and reception. The intimate carousel highlighted moments from the couple’s relationship and marriage, offering followers a personal look at their journey together since tying the knot in 2018.

While the post was warmly received by many fans, online discussions quickly emerged after viewers noticed that very few senior royals appeared in the shared images. Some users speculated about the meaning behind the absence of members of the royal family, especially given the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the monarchy.

However, royal commentator Jennie Bond dismissed the speculation and defended Meghan’s decision, suggesting the choice may have been made out of consideration for the privacy of other royal family members.

Speaking to the Mirror, Bond explained, “I think one reason there are virtually no pictures of any other members of the family is out of respect for their privacy.” She also urged people not to read too deeply into the post, adding, “I don’t think we should draw any conclusions about the state of their relationship from the fact that they are not included in the pictures.”

The anniversary post comes during a period in which Meghan has increasingly embraced public-facing projects and personal branding opportunities since stepping back as a senior working royal alongside Prince Harry in 2020. The couple now lives in California and operates independently from royal duties.

Bond noted that Meghan appears to be taking greater control of her own public image and communications, especially as she expands her lifestyle brand, As Ever. According to the commentator, the Duchess is carefully shaping how she presents her personal life to the public while balancing her commercial ambitions.

Despite past criticism aimed at the Sussexes regarding privacy concerns, Bond argued that Meghan’s recent social media activity reflects modern celebrity culture and branding rather than contradiction.

“But the truth is, it’s the world we all now live in: she is developing her brand, and this is part of it,” Bond said. “Most of us are playing exactly the same game.”

The discussion surrounding the anniversary post once again highlights the intense public attention surrounding Harry and Meghan, with even small details in their social media updates continuing to spark widespread debate online.
