Susanna Reid’s Blunt Take on Phillip Schofield’s TV Comeback ‘I Didn’t Watch It and I Don’t Know Him’

In a recent interview, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid shared her unfiltered thoughts on Phillip Schofield’s attempt at a TV comeback, marking his first return to television since his controversial exit from This Morning in May 2023. When asked if she had tuned in to Schofield’s new Channel 5 survival series, Reid, 53, delivered a pointed response: “I didn’t watch it, and I don’t know him.” Her blunt remark has since fueled public discussion, adding to the ongoing conversations about Schofield’s exit from ITV, according to the Express.

The two presenters, both well-known faces on ITV, have crossed professional paths, with Good Morning Britain and This Morning filmed at the same studio. Yet, Reid’s statement suggests a clear detachment from Schofield, despite their shared platform. Phillip Schofield, 62, departed This Morning following an admission of a relationship with a younger colleague, leading to intense scrutiny of his professional and personal life. The fallout strained his long-standing on-screen partnership with Holly Willoughby, and Schofield has largely stayed out of the public eye since his departure—until this recent venture.

In September, Schofield returned to television with a Channel 5 series that placed him on a remote tropical island, where he tackled physical and emotional challenges in a quest for personal reflection. However, Reid’s dismissive comment hints that his reappearance may not be well-received across the industry, even as he seeks a new chapter on screen.

Reid, a seasoned broadcaster herself, also discussed her experiences in the public eye, particularly her time on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013. Reflecting on her journey, she praised her dance partner, Kevin Clifton, and described the experience as “a different planet” of glitter and glamour. But Reid acknowledged the recent controversies surrounding Strictly, specifically allegations of bullying, and expressed her support for those who had negative experiences on the show. “I think it’s really important that if people have had a bad experience that is addressed and they are supported,” she commented.

Meanwhile, Holly Willoughby, Schofield’s former co-host, seems to be moving forward with her own projects. Willoughby, 43, recently teased her fans with behind-the-scenes glimpses of a new, mysterious TV show, promising viewers a “night of glorious giggles.”

Reid’s remarks highlight the complex dynamics within the TV industry, suggesting that Schofield’s re-entry may face a cool reception from some colleagues while others, like Willoughby, forge new paths forward.
