Prince Harry’s Latest Move Reportedly Puts Multi-Million Netflix Deal at Risk

Prince Harry appears to have upset Netflix bosses once again with a bold move that may jeopardize his lucrative deal with the streaming giant. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who signed a multi-million-dollar contract with Netflix in 2020 after stepping down from their senior royal roles, are now facing a deadline to deliver more content. However, Netflix is reportedly not impressed with their latest project.

Following the massive success of their docuseries Harry & Meghan, Netflix had high hopes for more hits from the couple. But their newest addition has left executives disappointed, as it doesn’t seem to meet the public’s expectations. According to a Hollywood producer, “Any reasonable person tuning into a show about polo made by Prince Harry would expect Harry to take a starring role.” They added, “That he’s not is hugely disappointing for Netflix. Let’s face it, polo isn’t exactly a mainstream sport, so the attraction would have been watching Harry. Without him, it’s marginal at best.”

Titled Polo, Prince Harry’s new series focuses on his polo-playing friend Nacho Figueras, with Harry himself making only a brief appearance. This decision has left both Netflix and viewers frustrated, as many expected the series to revolve around Harry. The Hollywood producer expressed concerns over the future of the couple’s partnership with Netflix, saying, “What Netflix have received in return doesn’t look great. People want personal stuff. Apart from their documentary series, which had the drama of them quitting the Royal Family, everything else they’ve produced has been underwhelming.”

The news comes amid Prince Harry’s efforts to repair his relationship with the royal family, particularly following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Since then, both Harry and Meghan have refrained from making public attacks on the royals, signaling a possible shift in their approach.

While Harry’s focus on reconciling with his father is evident, his latest project with Netflix may not be enough to keep the streaming giant satisfied. As their contract nears its end, the pressure is on for the Sussexes to deliver another hit, or their future with Netflix could be in jeopardy.
