Naga Munchetty Laughs Off On-Air Mishap, Calls It ‘So Stupid’ on BBC Breakfast

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty found herself in an awkward situation during Thursday morning’s show after making a live mistake that left her visibly embarrassed. The incident occurred while Naga was speaking with reporter Tim Muffet, who was covering a story from Kingston Upon Thames about new hedgehog crossings designed to protect the animals.

As Tim stood with a hedgehog sign clearly visible behind him, Naga mistakenly missed the obvious cue. She asked Tim, “Is that the sign, Tim?” before greeting him with a delayed “Good Morning to you,” quickly realizing her error. Cringing at the blunder, Naga immediately corrected herself, explaining, “Oh no, I was looking at the purple sign underneath, it’s the one across, obviously.” She then admitted, “Do you know what, that sounded so stupid.”

This isn’t the first time Naga has encountered an on-air mishap. Just last week, she experienced another slip-up that forced an unexpected pause in the program due to multiple technical glitches, as reported by the Express.

During that broadcast, Naga attempted to transition from the red sofa to the next segment, only to find that a key visual effect was missing from the screen behind her. Facing the camera, Naga began, “In the last 24 hours, the BBC has been looking at some of the challenges facing the industry as part of a campaign called Farm Watch set up to inform and educate the public about what it is really like to be a farmer, take a look.”

However, the planned segment didn’t go as expected. Naga glanced around the studio, locking eyes with her co-host Charlie Stayt, who seemed aware that something had gone wrong. Realizing the mistake, Naga brought the broadcast to a temporary halt, admitting, “Well you could have had a look, but we haven’t got it, unfortunately. But what we can do is show you a feed at this moment in time.”

Adding to the moment, the screen then displayed a frozen image of a combined harvester. With good humor, Naga laughed and remarked, “Oh, well, it is a frozen combine harvester. This is great.” Despite the blunders, Naga handled the situations with grace and humor, keeping the show moving forward.
