Carol Kirkwood Pauses BBC Weather Forecast to Apologize for Disappointing Outlook: “Sorry, Sal”

During Monday’s BBC Breakfast, Carol Kirkwood briefly paused her weather forecast to issue a light-hearted apology to her co-stars. After delivering the forecast for the week, co-host Sally Nugent playfully expressed her disappointment about the impending rain, saying, “You’re disappointing me now, Carol. I thought we had summer.”

Carol, laughing, paused before responding with a sincere apology: “Sorry, Sal.” Sally quickly interjected, acknowledging that it wasn’t Carol’s fault, to which Carol jokingly added, “I’ll go and get rid of it.” The banter continued as Sally encouraged her, “If anyone can, you can,” while co-host Jon Kay chimed in with, “Delete it, pretend”, reports Daily Express.

Carol, known for her engaging presence on BBC Breakfast, often shares weather updates on social media. On Monday, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to update her followers: “Some heavy thundery downpours around this morning. The Met Office has 2 yellow warnings in force atm. The one across N Ireland expires at 0700. The other was across Scotland and N England at 1300. Not everyone will see one, but if you do, you will know about it @BBCBreakfast.”

She also tweeted about the temperature variations across the UK: “Temps in the SE quarter of the UK today will widely be in the high 20s/low 30s… possibly reaching 35C somewhere in SE Eng where it will feel humid. Further N and W, when the thundery downpours clear, it will feel more comfortable with temps in the low to mid-20s.”

Carol’s followers quickly responded to her updates, with one person writing, “Good morning Carol. It’s already feeling very warm down here in the Portsmouth area. I hope the folks in Northern Ireland, Northern England, and Scotland get some decent weather today too.”

Another follower from Scotland shared their experience, saying, “The noise in SW Scotland is insane. I’ve never heard anything like it! It’s like an ongoing, incredibly loud, rumble. Woke me up 20 mins ago and still going.” Despite the less-than-ideal forecast, Carol’s warm rapport with her co-hosts and followers continues to make her a beloved figure on BBC Breakfast.
