Prince William’s Jokes About ‘Good Weather for Swimming’ Amid Royal Garden Party

Around 8,000 people, including Prince William’s cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara Tindall and her husband Mike, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, attended a royal garden party recently, via People. The event saw the young royals stepping in to entertain guests in the absence of King Charles and Queen Camilla, who are currently dealing with Charles’ cancer treatment.

Despite the rainy weather, the royals ensured that the guests, who took shelter under umbrellas and in tea tents, had a memorable experience. The event showcased their support for King Charles as he continued to fulfill his public duties amidst his treatment.

The guest list featured individuals from various organizations close to Prince William’s heart, including Homewards, his homelessness initiative; RAF Valley, where he served as a search and rescue pilot; Swim England, of which he is patron; and tenants from Duchy of Cornwall sites. Engaging with senior executives from Swim England, William joked about the weather, saying it was “good weather for swimming”, exposed Evening Standard.

Typically, the monarch assigns family members to host one of the garden parties or lets them organize their own for charities they support. This event was no exception, with Prince William set to meet representatives from several of his and his wife Kate’s patronages, military affiliations, and personal interests.

The Princess of Wales, however, did not attend the event as she continues to stay out of the public eye during her cancer treatment. Despite her absence, the spirit of the event remained lively.

Prince William, dressed in a top hat and morning suit, added a personal touch by leaving the party with a children’s book, which he promised to read to Prince Louis at bedtime. Mrs. Hall, a guest from Bloomers Farm in north Dorset, remarked on the weather, saying, “We’re farmers, we’re used to the rain, and when we left this morning Dorset was in sunshine. It’s all the seasons in one day sometimes.”

Meanwhile, Zara and Mike Tindall mingled with the public, interacting with those hoping to catch a glimpse of the royals despite the less-than-ideal conditions. Their presence added a personal and approachable element to the event, underscoring the family’s commitment to maintaining close ties with the public and their charitable endeavors.

The garden party highlighted the resilience and dedication of the royal family, particularly during challenging times, and demonstrated their continued engagement with the public and various charitable causes.
