Why Meghan Markle Reportedly Doesnt Want a Baby Shower for Her Daughter

Meghan Markle is getting ready to give birth to her second child—a baby girl—and this pregnancy has been different than her pregnancy with her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie. For starters, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in America—Montecito, California, to be exact. They’re also welcoming a child in the middle of a pandemic, which is why Markle isn’t too keen on a baby shower at the moment.

“Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now,” a source tells Us Weekly about Markle’s decision to forgo a big party. The insider continues, “There is too much strife in the world. She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”

The source adds that the former Suits star “has the support of her friends and, most importantly,” her husband, Prince Harry, “is the ideal partner, taking care of Archie and working to provide for his family.”

During their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired March 7, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed they are expecting a daughter. “Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl…,” Prince Harry said. “Now we’ve got our family and we’ve got four of us.”

Markle recently spoke about her baby girl during a speech for Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World. “My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter. It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world,” she said in the prerecorded video, which aired during the event on May 8. “When we think of her, we think of all the other families around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”
