Tragic Death of Child at Camp Bestival Shocks Festival-Goers

A tragic event unfolded at Camp Bestival, a prominent music festival in Shropshire, as a child who fell ill during the event later succumbed in the hospital.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday (August 19) at Weston Park, near Shifnal. Staffordshire Police responded promptly at 12:37 am after reports came in about a child’s sudden illness. Although immediate medical attention was administered at the venue, and the child was rushed to the hospital in a grave state, they passed away shortly thereafter.

The spokesperson for Staffordshire Police expressed their deepest condolences and mentioned that the bereaved family is currently being supported by specially-trained officers. They urged the public to respect the family’s privacy during this heart-wrenching time and affirmed that investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the child’s death are in progress.

Camp Bestival, scheduled from August 17-20, is a prominent family-centric event drawing thousands of attendees. Last year, around 30,000 visitors graced the event, with similar figures anticipated this year. The festival boasts a plethora of activities and entertainment, from music performances, comedy, and theatre, to a myriad of children’s activities designed to foster creativity and imagination.
