Skelmersdale Teen Tragically Murdered Man Convicted of Fatal Stabbing

In a heartrending case from Skelmersdale, a 28-year-old man, Felipe Figueiredo, has been convicted for the murder of 15-year-old Dylan Bragger in June of the previous year.

The incident unfolded near a footbridge on Digmoor Road in Skelmersdale around 9 pm on June 29, 2023. Figueiredo, driven by reports that his wife’s stolen motorbike was seen with two youths, left his Brierfield home at about 8.30 pm to locate the bike and the young individuals.

At approximately 9 pm, Figueiredo encountered Dylan Bragger and his cousin. A brief argument escalated quickly, leading to a chase down an embankment where Figueiredo fatally stabbed Dylan. He left the severely wounded teenager hidden in bushes, drove his cousin from the scene, disposed of the knife, and returned home.

Dylan’s cousin promptly alerted emergency services, but tragically, Dylan succumbed to his injuries before paramedics could save him.

Figueiredo contacted the police at 9.30 pm, claiming he had been assaulted by two males and had stabbed one in self-defense.

The post-mortem examination revealed a horrifying scene: Dylan had sustained over 23 knife wounds to his head, neck, chest, back, and abdomen, leading to his death, alongside multiple injuries to his abdomen and arms.

Katie Lord, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, stated, “In a fit of rage, Felipe Figueiredo launched a brutal knife attack on a teenager, causing deadly injuries. His self-defense claim was refuted by the evidence, leading to a unanimous murder conviction.

“This verdict sends a clear message against vigilantism and the reckless use of knives. While justice has been served, it cannot undo the loss of a young life. Our deepest sympathies go out to Dylan’s family and friends during this difficult time.
