Ranvir Singh interrupted Good Morning Britain with an unexpected and thrilling announcement for music fans, especially those eagerly awaiting next year’s Glastonbury Festival. The presenter revealed that Sir Rod Stewart is set to perform in the coveted legends slot, marking his return to Worthy Farm after 23 years.

Ranvir broke the news during a segment about an amusing rescue of a cat named John trapped in a drainpipe. With the update flashing across the screen, she shared the scoop: “A bit of breaking entertainment news for you, so Sir Rod Stewart has been announced that he’ll be playing Glastonbury in the legends slot at the festival next year”, reported by the Express.

The announcement comes after Sir Rod, now 79, revealed his plans to wind down his career by stepping back from large-scale world tours. However, the legendary singer assured fans he has no intention of retiring, saying, “I love what I do and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly age of 79.”

Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter), Sir Rod expressed his excitement about performing at Glastonbury: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing @glastonbury2025! After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there.”

Fans were ecstatic, flooding social media with praise and excitement. Comments included: “Excellent news, can’t wait,” and “That’s awesome. Looking forward to it!” Others celebrated his continued energy and dedication to performing: “Nice one, Sir. I’ll be watching on the telly.”

The Sunday afternoon legends slot at Glastonbury is known for drawing massive crowds and hosting iconic performances. With Sir Rod’s extensive catalog of hits and his enduring charm, his performance is poised to be a highlight of the festival.

The event, held from June 25 to 29 at Worthy Farm in Somerset, is already generating buzz about potential headliners. Speculation includes stars like Sam Fender, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, and Charli XCX, though no additional acts have been confirmed.

Sir Rod’s announcement is just the beginning of what promises to be another unforgettable Glastonbury, blending legendary talent with fresh faces for a celebration of music on the world’s most famous stage.
