Big changes are coming to the Premier League as German sportswear giant PUMA secures a monumental deal to provide the official match balls from the start of the 2025/26 season, reported ESPN. This marks a major shift, ending the league’s long-standing partnership with Nike and placing PUMA at the heart of the world’s most-watched football competition.
With the Premier League broadcast to a staggering 900 million homes across 189 countries, this partnership is a huge win for PUMA’s global brand presence. CEO Arne Freundt highlighted the significance of the deal, calling it “an important step in PUMA’s brand elevation strategy.”
“We look forward to bringing our performance technology to the forefront of the game and connecting with the many fans worldwide. With PUMA’s ball at the center of attention during every match in this incredible league, we will create unforgettable moments for players and fans alike,” Freundt said.
Beyond supplying match balls, PUMA will collaborate with the Premier League on a range of projects, including grassroots football programs, high-profile marketing campaigns, and events like the Premier League Summer Series, set to take place in the United States this summer.
This partnership also strengthens PUMA’s existing ties within the league. The brand is already the official kit supplier for Premier League champions Manchester City and boasts sponsorship deals with top players, including Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Kai Havertz (Arsenal), James Maddison (Tottenham), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Jordan Pickford (Everton), and Marc Cucurella (Chelsea).
Premier League CEO Richard Masters welcomed the partnership, emphasizing PUMA’s global reach and commitment to excellence. “[PUMA’s] global reach and commitment to excellence align with our values, and we are excited to work together on a range of projects to drive forward the incredible work taking place in communities and inspire fans worldwide,” Masters said.
With the deal kicking in from the 2025/26 season, Premier League fans will soon see PUMA-branded match balls in every game. The switch marks the end of an era, but also the start of a new chapter, with PUMA promising cutting-edge technology and innovation in every ball that hits the pitch. For football fans, it’s a bold move that will shape the look and feel of the game for years to come.
