Princess Anne Has Been Rushed to Hospital
Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, was rushed to the hospital after suffering minor injuries and a concussion following an incident at her Gatcombe Park estate on Sunday, June 24. The Princess was swiftly transported to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she remains under observation.
A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed: “The Princess Royal ‘has sustained minor injuries and concussion’ following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate on Sunday evening and remains in a Bristol hospital for observation. The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born on August 15, 1950. She is widely recognized for her extensive charitable work and dedication to public service. Holding the title of Princess Royal, a tradition for the eldest daughter of the British monarch since the 17th century, she is involved with over 300 charities. Notably, she has been the president of Save the Children since 1970. Her philanthropic efforts span across education, sports, health, and welfare.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson further elaborated: “Her Royal Highness is receiving appropriate expert care. No further details are being shared at this stage.” The spokesperson added, “Her Royal Highness will remain in Southmead Hospital unless or until her medical team advises otherwise.”
The incident reportedly occurred while Princess Anne, an Olympic medal-winning horsewoman, was walking on her Gloucestershire estate. It is believed she was kicked by a horse, leading to her injuries. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and after receiving initial medical care, she was transferred to Southmead Hospital for comprehensive tests and treatment.
Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall and son Peter Phillips, along with her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, were present at the estate during the incident. The King, Queen, and Princess Anne’s siblings, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex, along with her nephew the Prince of Wales, were notified on Sunday evening.
Due to her injuries, Princess Anne will miss several engagements this week, including the state banquet for the Japanese State Visit on Tuesday and an upcoming visit to Canada. A Palace spokesman stated: “On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result. The Japanese State Visit will go ahead as planned, though sadly Her Royal Highness will be unable to attend the State banquet tomorrow.”
The Princess is expected to make a full recovery and is likely to return home later this week. The Royal Family and the public eagerly await her swift return to health and her continued dedication to her royal duties.
