Diana documentary offer to Prince Harry takes a dark turn: ‘Shut up already!’

Prince Harry has come under renewed criticism just hours after reports emerged that he has been offered a new documentary project centered on the death of his mother, Princess Diana. The planned series, reportedly set to air in 2027 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s passing, has already sparked a heated debate among broadcasters and royal watchers.
Speaking candidly on GB News, host Stephen Dixon did not mince words about his feelings toward the Duke of Sussex and his reported involvement in another media venture focused on personal trauma. “Sitting with a psychiatrist in front of a television camera is not the way to handle it. It’s damaging,” Dixon said. “Even by the very nature that he can do this and Prince William cannot.”
In a sharp rebuke, he added, “I think he needs to shut up, quite frankly. You’re not helping anyone, Harry.” The conversation quickly turned into a spirited debate when fellow broadcaster Alex Dyke stepped in to defend the prince, highlighting the emotional toll Diana’s death had on Harry as a child.
“This one is interesting,” Dyke said. “They haven’t been box office for Netflix but apparently Harry has been offered a contract for a documentary that will follow Diana’s death.”
Dyke argued that the root of many of Harry’s public struggles could stem from unresolved trauma. “I think at the root of all of Harry’s problems is the delayed shock and trauma of losing his mother,” he noted. “I think if he sits with a psychiatrist, I’m not suggesting he will, but it would be very revealing.”
He continued, “I know he annoys people, but if you went through what that poor boy did in 1997…” At that point, Dixon interjected, pointing out that Prince William endured the same tragedy. Dyke acknowledged the point but maintained, “Yes, but people are different. What might affect you might affect me in a different way.”
The documentary offer comes amid ongoing criticism of Harry and Meghan Markle’s media ventures, many of which have centered around mental health, royal life, and personal revelations. As news of the Diana project spreads, it’s clear the debate around Harry’s public processing of grief—and how it contrasts with his brother’s silence—remains as polarizing as ever.
