Prince Harry fiercely defended after accusations of ‘causing’ King Charles cancer

Royal commentator Omid Scobie recently came to the defense of Prince Harry amidst controversial remarks suggesting that the Duke of Sussex’s actions had inflicted such severe stress on his father, King Charles, as to contribute to the monarch’s alleged cancer diagnosis.

The contentious statement was made by Victoria Mather, previously associated with Express as a travel editor, during her appearance on the LBC radio show. Mather urged Prince Harry to introspect and recognize his alleged role in exacerbating his father’s health issues.

Mather initiated her argument by highlighting the often-overlooked link between stress and cancer, citing it as an “elephant in the room” and drawing from her battle with the disease, which she believes was stress-induced. She pointed to the high-profile departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from royal duties, commonly referred to as ‘Megxit,’ as a significant source of stress for King Charles.

According to Mather, Prince Harry needed to acknowledge his contribution to his father’s purported health struggles. The reaction to Mather’s comments was swift and critical, with many finding her insinuation to be in poor taste. Omid Scobie, known for his book on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, took to the social media platform X to express his disdain for Mather’s claims, labeling them as “the lowest of the low.”

Scobie also recalled a previous incident where Mather was removed from a live MSNBC broadcast for using offensive language regarding Meghan Markle, questioning the credibility of her assertions. Lorraine King, a former British journalist, also weighed in on the controversy with a touch of sarcasm, suggesting that the next unfounded accusation might be to blame Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for global warming.

The remarks by Mather ignited a debate on the boundaries of public discourse regarding the personal lives of public figures, especially about sensitive issues such as health and family dynamics within the royal family.
