Dancing On Ice’s Oti Mabuse Breaks Silence on ‘Life-Changing Lesson’ After Sudden ITV Show Axe

Oti Mabuse has opened up about the valuable lesson she learned when ITV decided to cancel her weekend breakfast show. The professional dancer, who briefly hosted the Saturday morning show with former Love Island star Laura Whitmore fronting the Sunday version, reflects on the setback during a recent interview.

The South African-born dancer admitted that the cancellation of the show was a tough moment but one that ultimately helped her grow. “But the biggest lessons you get are from the failures. The most successful people are the ones who have failed over and over and over again and not given up,” she told The Times, reported by the Express.

Oti, 34, is no stranger to success, but she believes that failures are where real growth happens. She shared how her life, filled with challenges and moments of doubt, has taught her invaluable lessons. “I went to my first concert at the age of 31 and that was me seeing Elton John,” Oti explained. “I was always in the studio, always being a good girl. I never lived a life. I’d never taken a moment to stop and travel, go on holiday, do what I wanted to do”, according to the Mirror.

Having joined Let’s Dance in Germany in 2015, Oti went on to achieve major success on Strictly Come Dancing, winning back-to-back titles with Kelvin Fletcher and Bill Bailey. She left the show in 2021, just as her sister, Motsi, joined as a judge. Oti later took on a judging role on Dancing on Ice alongside Ashley Banjo, Jane Torvill, and Christopher Dean.

Oti’s success was not without sacrifice. Despite her career accomplishments, she has faced challenges, including balancing her family life with her demanding schedule. After narrowly missing the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! final in 2022, she reflected on the importance of family. “I would love to grow my family so let’s see what happens. But in terms of being away from family, I probably won’t be able to do that much longer,” she shared.

Oti also expressed how she has learned to make time for herself and cherish the moments with her loved ones. As she returns to Dancing on Ice, she acknowledges that this is the time for her to pursue her dreams and embrace new opportunities while she can.
