NHS Nurse Speaks Out After Being Racially Abused by Transgender Pedophile — Then She Got Punished

NHS nurse Jennifer Melle has spoken out about a traumatic incident at work where she says she was racially abused and physically threatened by a transgender pedophile patient—all because she referred to them as “Mr” during a phone call.

Jennifer, 40, had been working a night shift at St Helier Hospital in Carshalton back in October 2024 when chaos broke out in the trauma and orthopedic ward. Speaking to GB News, she recalled how a distressed colleague came running to her, saying a patient was becoming violent while trying to self-discharge.

Jennifer explained: “I spoke to the doctor on the phone and I said, ‘Mr X would like to self-discharge, is there anything we can do?’” But the patient overheard and erupted, yelling: “I’m a mess, don’t call me Mr.”

What followed left Jennifer stunned. She says the patient, who was cuffed and restrained by two prison guards, began hurling the N-word at her repeatedly, before lunging at her in a violent outburst. “He became so outraged and began to call me the N-word multiple times, despite me trying to calm the situation,” she said. “I was shaking. I had to just walk away and leave the environment.”

Jennifer says her refusal to use female pronouns stems from her deeply held Christian beliefs. “I said I’m happy to call you by your preferred feminine name that we had on the board, but I cannot refer to you as a miss,” she said. “I’m a very strong believer and I’m a street preacher as well, so I cannot go against it.”

Despite the ordeal, Jennifer says it was her who was investigated and punished. The hospital issued her with a final written warning, and she was referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council—an investigation that’s still ongoing. She believes management tried to pressure her into going against her convictions, saying, “I felt like I was the prisoner here.”

She added that she was redeployed to a different department and stripped of her usual duties. “I was in tears, actually. I felt I was being punished for my faith.”

The most upsetting part for her was what she sees as the lack of support. “I was quite disappointed that they were siding with the sex offender paedophile. I don’t think they were concerned about my feelings or how I was racially abused.”

Despite everything, Jennifer said she’s always loved her job. “For 12 years of my nursing, I’ve never had any complaints.” Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust said they could not comment further while internal proceedings are still ongoing.
