Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide After Heartfelt Social Media Post
0A mother at the center of a tragic murder-suicide case had shared an upbeat social media post just six months before she and her disabled daughter were found dead in their home in Salford.
Martina Karos, 40, and her eight-year-old daughter, Eleni Edwards, were discovered by emergency services at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Police were responding to concerns for their welfare when they made the devastating discovery. Authorities are treating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide, and no other individuals are being sought in connection with the deaths, told The Sun.
In March, Martina shared a heartwarming Facebook post showing her daughter Eleni at a therapy center in Liverpool. She wrote, “For the last few weeks Eleni has been back at her happy place,” referring to her daughter’s love for rebound therapy, which helps individuals with disabilities. Martina added, “The joy on her face says it all. She really loves rebound therapy. When you find a therapy that your child loves and see the benefits of it, the joy of it and the achievement as a parent is priceless.”
The contrast between the loving post and the tragic events that unfolded has left the community in shock. Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley from Greater Manchester Police expressed her condolences, saying, “The thoughts of the entire investigation team remain with the family of Martina and Eleni. It is such a tragic loss of life, and our main priority is keeping their loved ones updated throughout the investigation.”
Whalley also acknowledged the disruption to the local community due to the ongoing investigation but stressed the importance of gathering all necessary information to help the family process the heartbreaking news. “A cordon remains in place on Radford Street and will stay up while officers work in the area,” she added. “We believe there are no suspicious circumstances, and we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with this case. Our goal is to conclude the investigation and pass a file to the coroner.”
Flowers have been placed outside the property, with members of the community showing their support for the grieving family. The public has been asked to remain patient as authorities complete their work.
In a statement on Monday, Salford Council expressed its sorrow over the incident, saying, “We are aware of the terribly sad news this morning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives. We’re working closely with GMP and assisting them with their ongoing investigation.”
The council also emphasized that teams would be providing support to both local residents and staff who have been deeply affected by the event. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log 998 of 23/09/2024.
