Millie Bobby Brown Opens Up About Protecting Her Adopted Daughter from the Spotlight

Millie Bobby Brown has opened up about motherhood and her decision to keep her adopted daughter out of the public eye. The Stranger Things star, who married Jake Bongiovi in 2024, first revealed the adoption in a surprise social media post on August 21.

In a new interview for British Vogue’s December issue, Millie shared her deep sense of responsibility toward protecting her child’s privacy. “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” she said.

The Enola Holmes actress emphasized that she has no plans to put her daughter in the spotlight prematurely. “If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support,” the 21-year-old explained. For now, Millie said her daughter is still very young, and it’s her and Jake’s duty as parents to “protect” her from public attention.

In the same interview, Millie expressed her desire to have a big family. “I really want a big family – I’m one of four; he’s one of four,” she shared. The Damsel actress also praised her husband, describing him as “the most amazing dad.”

Earlier this year, Millie had spoken openly about her wish to become a mother. During an appearance on the Smartless podcast, she reflected on how motherhood had been a lifelong dream. “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake,” she said.

She went on to explain that her maternal instincts developed early. “Since I was a baby… I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me. And my nan, my grandmother, is a huge part of my life.”

Millie’s comments show a new side of the young actress, who has grown up in front of the camera and now wants a different experience for her daughter. Known for balancing her successful acting career with her entrepreneurial ventures, Millie has made it clear that family comes first.

While fans were surprised by her quiet adoption announcement, many have praised her decision to give her daughter privacy. For now, the young family appears to be focused on a grounded and private life—something Millie seems determined to preserve.
