GB News’ Michelle Dewberry Breaks Down in Tears During Emotional Confession
0GB News presenter Michelle Dewberry shared an emotional moment on social media, revealing she “burst into tears” after hearing a harrowing audio recording of a domestic abuse victim cleverly alerting authorities.
On Tuesday (January 14), the 45-year-old broadcaster posted a clip from the Metropolitan Police featuring a woman reporting her abusive partner under the guise of ordering a pizza. In the heart-wrenching recording, the emergency responder skillfully interprets the coded language, asking if the assailant was harming the woman or her children by using pizza toppings as metaphors, reported by the Express.
Thanks to the responder’s quick thinking, police arrived at the scene and resolved the situation. The Metropolitan Police shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) to inspire and guide other victims of abuse on how to seek help discreetly.
Dewberry, deeply moved by the audio, shared it on her personal account, writing: “Only just heard this & I confess, it made me burst into tears. You could hear the terror in that woman’s voice & those poor children who will have witnessed whatever happened 💔💔. Amazing work that officer. I hope the victim has been able to get away & stay away from the perpetrator 🙏.”
Support for the emergency responder and the victim quickly poured in online. One user praised, “I find it’s all too easy to have a pop at The Met nowadays, but listening to that is very emotional & it makes me proud. The best of British at work there… Superb training & truly brilliant work 👏.” Another added, “There are so many good police who do their job to serve the public. Hope the lady is safe now with her children.”
This moving moment also highlights Dewberry’s advocacy for domestic abuse victims. The former Apprentice winner has previously spoken about her traumatic childhood, during which she and her mother endured domestic violence at the hands of her father.
In a 2017 interview with The Sun, Dewberry recalled: “We experienced a lot of domestic violence at the hands of my father… He was a very angry person with my mum and his children. I’ve got very scary memories.” She credited Women’s Aid Services with helping her family escape, stating, “They are life-saving, full stop, no different from an A&E department.”
Dewberry’s emotional response to this recent case underscores the ongoing need for support systems like Women’s Aid and continued funding for domestic abuse services.
