Meghan Markle Defies Prince Harry’s Warnings in Explosive 2017 Vanity Fair Interview: Royal Tensions Ignite

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, deviated from Prince Harry’s explicit directives during her 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, causing a stir within royal circles. Royal author Tom Bower has disclosed in his book “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors” that Prince Harry had advised Meghan against discussing certain topics, notably their relationship, in the lead-up to their engagement announcement.

The interview, intended to highlight Meghan’s biracial heritage and her role in the TV series “Suits,” unexpectedly veered off course. Despite efforts to avoid personal questions, the published piece featured Meghan with the headline “She’s Just Wild About Harry,” which reportedly displeased the royal couple.

Meghan’s reaction to the fallout involved contacting her publicists at Sunshine Sachs, expressing distress over the royal household’s dissatisfaction with the interview’s focus. The incident underscores the delicate balance of personal and public life within the royal family.

In recent years, Prince Harry appears to have shifted his stance on public disclosures, evident from the publication of his memoir “Spare” in 2023, which contains candid revelations about the Royal Family. Although Harry hinted at sufficient content for a second memoir, plans for such a publication seem to have been shelved.

Furthermore, in a revealing interview with Good Morning America in February, Harry shared a personal moment, disclosing that King Charles had informed him of his cancer diagnosis, leading Harry to visit his father promptly. Despite this openness, Harry maintained discretion regarding the King’s health, emphasizing the private nature of their conversation.
