Tragic Shooting Revelation: Suspect Confesses to Killing Council Worker Ashley Dale

James Witham, one of the men accused of the murder of 28-year-old council worker Ashley Dale, has confessed to taking her life. Ashley Dale’s tragic death occurred in the quiet neighborhood of Old Swan, Merseyside, when she was found unresponsive in the backyard of her home on the fateful night of August 21 last year.

Reports by The Daily Record on Friday, September 22, 2023. The investigation into Ashley Dale’s murder has been a harrowing journey for law enforcement and her grieving family. Detectives initially reported that a gunman had forcefully entered her residence on Leinster Road, unleashing a hail of indiscriminate gunfire.

One of those bullets struck Ashley Dale in the abdomen, ultimately leading to her untimely demise. James Witham, a 41-year-old resident of Ashbury Road in Huyton, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court and made the startling admission that he was responsible for Ashley Dale’s death.

However, it’s important to note that Witham pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter, not murder. His plea has raised numerous questions about the circumstances surrounding Ashley Dale’s tragic end. Despite Witham’s confession, the legal process is far from over. A trial is set to commence on October 2, during which he will face multiple charges.

These charges include the murder of Ashley Dale, conspiracy to murder another individual named Lee Harrison, possession of a prohibited weapon—a Skorpion submachine gun—and ammunition with intent to endanger life, as well as conspiracy to possess a prohibited weapon with intent to endanger life. The Liverpool Echo has reported these developments.

Other individuals allegedly involved in this heinous crime have also faced charges. Sean Zeisz, aged 28 and hailing from Longreach Road in Huyton, along with 26-year-old Niall Barry from Moscow Drive in Tuebrook, and 28-year-old Joseph Peers of Woodlands Road in Roby, have all entered not guilty pleas to similar charges. Ian Fitzgibbon, aged 28, residing in Heigham Gardens in St. Helens, has not yet entered pleas for these alleged offenses. Additionally, Kallum Radford, a 25-year-old from Trentham Road in Kirkby, is facing charges of assisting an offender and has denied involvement in the case.

The shocking confession by James Witham has added a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal proceedings, leaving many questions unanswered. As the trial approaches, it is anticipated that more details will emerge about the events leading up to Ashley Dale’s tragic death and the roles played by the accused individuals.

Ashley Dale’s family and the community of Old Swan continue to grapple with the loss of a dedicated council worker and beloved member of their community. The upcoming trial will be a pivotal moment in seeking justice for Ashley and bringing closure to a community still in shock from the events of that fateful night in August last year.
