London Park Investigation Uncovers Human Remains of 38-Year-Old Woman, Leads to Two Arrests

In a disquieting discovery at Rowdown Fields in Croydon, south London, human remains have been confirmed as those of Sarah Mayhew, a 38-year-old woman from the local area. The unsettling find prompted an immediate response from the Metropolitan Police shortly after 9am on April 2, following reports of the remains, by BBC.

The distressing news was relayed to the family of Sarah Mayhew, leaving them to confront the tragic loss of their loved one. In connection with Mayhew’s death, a 44-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were taken into custody on suspicion of murder and remain under investigation.

Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe, at the helm of the inquiry, expressed his condolences to Mayhew’s family, emphasizing the devastating nature of their loss and assuring ongoing support. He noted that the individuals detained were acquainted with Sarah Mayhew and that the current focus of the investigation does not extend beyond these suspects.

Amidst the community’s growing apprehension, Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain sought to reassure residents of New Addington, acknowledging the alarm triggered by the incident and pledging continued visibility and engagement from local law enforcement to address public concerns.

The Metropolitan Police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mayhew’s death and urge anyone with potentially relevant information to come forward and assist by contacting the police with reference 1656/02Apr.
