KUWTK: Kylie Addresses ‘False Narrative’ Surrounding Donation Scandal

Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kylie Jenner addressed the backlash she faced after promoting her friend’s GoFundMe asking for donations.

With Kylie Jenner inching closer to billionaire status, many would think she has her friends covered when it comes to financial assistance. But the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star sent her followers into a frenzy after she was seen promoting her former makeup artist’s GoFundMe that asked for donations to cover medical expenses. After facing backlash online, Kylie took to her Instagram Story to address the criticism and clear up any confusion surrounding how much she donated to her friend’s GoFundMe.

Things went left for the Kylie Cosmetics founder after she tried to help promote Samuel Rauda’s GoFundMe page. Her former MUA underwent brain surgery following a tragic car accident earlier this month. Kylie asked for prayers and support from her 220 million followers while seemingly also asking for donations. But her fans weren’t feeling the gesture and called her out with questions on why she didn’t just foot the full bill herself. With her being the highest-paid celebrity of 2020 with a net worth of $900 million, the 23-year-old has more than enough money to go around.

But after becoming a trending topic once again due to the public scrutiny, Kylie opted to break her silence this time around and address the speculation. “I feel it’s important for me to clear up this false narrative that I’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills,” she wrote, as captured by E! News. “Sam isn’t my makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but I have worked with him a few years ago and think he’s the sweetest.” She went on to share how she felt compelled to donate after her current MUA Ariel Tejada made her aware of the GoFundMe after posting it on his page. She says the goal was set at $10k when she saw it. “They had already raised $6K so I put in $5K to reach their original goal and thought I’d post on my stories to gain more awareness if anyone felt so compelled to share or donate,” she explained.

The beauty mogul went on to address the criticism she’s been receiving for helping out a friend. “I don’t know how all of this got so twisted but this family has reached out through Ariel and are very appreciative of all the donations, prayers and love towards Sam,” she added. The Life of Kylie star went on to note show she only does “things from the heart and I try to be helpful whenever I can be.” She ended on a positive note by sending love to Sam, his family, and telling her followers to have a good day. Her response is something not typical for the reality star as she often ignores social media backlash.

However, when she’s called out for things that go viral, like this incident, Kylie often speaks on the claims. The last time she responded to fan criticism was when her followers accused her of having weak water pressure coming out of her shower. This time around, the issue was much more serious. It’s nice to have a friend like Kylie in your corner who will not only donate the most but ask her fans to donate too.
