“He Got Too Big for His Boots”: Kim Woodburn Reignites Feud with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby
0Years after her explosive appearance on This Morning, Kim Woodburn has once again turned the spotlight on Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, reigniting her long-standing feud with the former hosts, told the Express. Known for her outspoken nature, the 82-year-old reality star has not held back in her latest criticism of the duo, particularly in light of their recent departures from the ITV show.
Woodburn first clashed with Schofield during a tense 2017 interview on This Morning, where she famously labeled him as “rude” following his questioning of her behavior during her stint on Celebrity Big Brother. The incident left a lasting impression on Woodburn, and now, years later, she’s revisiting that conflict with renewed fervor.
In a recent interview with Reach PLC, in association with WhichBingo, Woodburn didn’t mince her words. Reflecting on Schofield’s career, she acknowledged his earlier success but quickly pointed out where she believed things went wrong. “I think Phillip Schofield started out as a great presenter, he was, you know, to be fair. He did a lot of shows and he did them impeccably and was very likable,” she said. “Do you know what happened? The last few years of his career, he got too big for his boots”, via Manchester Evening News.
Woodburn recalled her own experience being interviewed by Schofield, adding, “When I was interviewed by him, he was rude, he was opinionated, he was on the edge of the sofa looking at me.” Her criticism of Schofield was not limited to their infamous spat but extended to his recent exit from ITV, following his admission of an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague. Woodburn had previously told The Sun that Schofield “was almost always rude, judgmental, and looked at his guests as if they’d just fallen out of a piece of cheese.”
But Woodburn didn’t stop at Schofield. She turned her attention to Holly Willoughby, questioning her role on This Morning and suggesting that her success was largely due to Schofield. “What did she ever do on the show?” Woodburn asked pointedly. “She was 14 years of Phillip Schofield, money for old rope, she didn’t do anything. She sat there when he was arguing with people or questioning people on something serious, and when it turned out, what did Holly do?”
In Woodburn’s view, Willoughby’s longevity on the program was a direct result of Schofield’s presence. “If it wasn’t for Phil, Holly wouldn’t have survived on the show for 14 years,” she claimed.
This isn’t the first time Woodburn has publicly aired her grievances against the duo. In May 2023, following Schofield’s departure from This Morning, Woodburn was quick to voice her disapproval of the former presenter. At the time, she described him as someone who had “astonishing nerve” to look down on others, considering the secrets he had been hiding.
Now, with both Schofield and Willoughby no longer on the show, Woodburn’s harsh words only add fuel to the ongoing fallout from their time at This Morning. Schofield’s dramatic exit in 2023, coupled with the subsequent scrutiny on Willoughby, has left the show in a state of upheaval. For many, Woodburn’s pointed remarks serve as yet another reminder of the complex dynamics that played out behind the scenes of one of Britain’s most beloved morning programs.
As the dust continues to settle on the Schofield and Willoughby saga, one thing is clear: Kim Woodburn is far from ready to let bygones be bygones. With her fiery comments making headlines once again, the reality star remains as outspoken as ever, keeping the public conversation about the former This Morning hosts alive and kicking.
