Jason Donovan Opens Up About Embracing Future Grandfather Role and His New Healthy Lifestyle

Jason Donovan, the 56-year-old Australian icon, recently shared his excitement about the prospect of becoming a grandfather and discussed his new lifestyle changes during a candid interview on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV morning show.

The star, who appeared on the show to talk about his latest role in Richard O’Brien’s iconic rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show, which is embarking on a global tour, also reflected on the sentimental value the show holds for him. It was during a previous run of the show that Jason met his wife, Angela Malloch.

With a touch of nostalgia, Jason recounted how he and Angela first met when she was working as a stage manager. What started as a friendship quickly blossomed into a lasting love, with their bond growing stronger over the years. Lorraine sparked the memory, commenting, “So the show, it really meant a lot to you because that’s where you met your wife,” as reported by The Mirror.

Jason warmly confirmed, “Yes, that’s where I met my wife,” adding, “We’re still very strong, so that’s another success story. She was a stage manager in 1998, and you know the rest is history.”

While Jason and Angela prefer to keep their family life private, it’s known that they share three children: Jemma (born 2000), Zac (born 2001), and Molly (born 2011). Reflecting on his family, Jason expressed his anticipation for the day he becomes a grandfather, though he currently has no grandchildren.

He mused, “Three kids later. You know, I don’t have grandchildren yet, but maybe—who knows?” He then turned to Lorraine with a personal question: “How old is your daughter?” Lorraine replied, “30,” to which Jason responded, “Well, my oldest is 24, so you never know. I mean, anything can happen.” Lorraine agreed, saying, “Yes, anything can happen.”

In another part of the interview, Jason delved into his new health regime, sharing his recent dietary changes, including cutting out processed foods. The star, who first rose to fame on the iconic Australian soap Neighbours, shared, “I like to keep physically fit. I’ve changed my diet recently—I’m not eating processed foods, cut out coffee, and I’m drinking a lot more water.”

Reflecting on his age, he added, “But I’m in my mid-50s—how did that happen? I sit there and think, ‘That’s pretty crazy.'” Addressing Lorraine, he said, “Well, we are still here doing it.” Lorraine affirmed, “Yes, true we are, and loving it.”
