Holly Willoughby’s Company Owes £377k in Tax Court Hears Bombshell Details
Holly Willoughby’s company has landed in hot water with HMRC, after it was revealed in court that it owes a massive £377,000 in unpaid tax. The hearing, which took place at the Insolvency and Companies Court on Wednesday, was in response to a winding-up order served on her business, Roxy Media, earlier this year.
The former This Morning presenter runs the company with her husband, Dan Baldwin. The court heard the business had been unable to settle its tax debt, prompting HMRC to take legal action — something it only does as a last resort. A winding-up petition like this usually means things have gotten serious, especially when a debt tops £750. In this case, it’s not just over the line, it’s miles past it, reported the Express.
Although the outstanding amount was initially even higher, it’s now been confirmed as £377,000. Chief Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Briggs has given a 12-week extension for the case, which will now be heard again on 9 July.
HMRC commented on the situation, stating, “We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts and only file winding-up petitions once we’ve exhausted all other options, to protect taxpayers’ money.”
It’s a surprising twist given how successful Holly’s business ventures have seemed from the outside. Just a couple of years ago, it was reported that Roxy Media had made £4.5 million over three years. And that’s not her only source of income — in 2021, she launched her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon, which sells everything from candles to diffusers.
At the time, PR expert Hayley Smith suggested Holly could rake in between £6 million and £12 million a year through her brand. That’s on top of her long-standing TV career and a string of high-end endorsement deals. She’s had partnerships with major names like Marks & Spencer, Garnier, and Dunelm, reportedly earning six-figure sums for those alone.
Holly, now 44, spent 14 years co-hosting This Morning before stepping down in 2023. She was also a regular face on Dancing on Ice, but with that show now axed, her presence on ITV has significantly reduced.
Even with an estimated net worth of £10 million, according to Hello!, this latest court update suggests all may not be as picture-perfect behind the scenes.
