GAB Group Acquires Nine Scotch & Soda Stores in Belgium, Set to Reopen in Autumn 2024

Bluestar Alliance, the owner of Scotch & Soda, has announced that the Alain Broekaert Group (GAB) has taken over nine Scotch & Soda stores in Belgium, including locations in Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges. These stores will continue to operate under the Scotch & Soda brand and are set to reopen as early as autumn 2024.

“We are delighted with this acquisition,” said Alain Broekaert, CEO of GAB. “Scotch & Soda is a brand that resonates with fashion lovers, and we see tremendous value in continuing the brand in Belgium. Each of these boutiques has a special place in their city, and we are committed to maintaining their iconic presence while infusing them with new energy and innovation.”

GAB has a long-standing relationship with Scotch & Soda, having previously established its Belgian branch and remained active with the label in both Belgium and Luxembourg. This acquisition builds on GAB’s recent takeover of Scotch & Soda Retail SAS in France in May, demonstrating their continued commitment to preserving the troubled Dutch retailer.

Founded in 1986, GAB was the official distributor and retailer of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein in the BELUX market for over 20 years. In addition to Scotch & Soda, GAB also distributes other prominent brands such as Pepe Jeans, Love Stories, Karl Lagerfeld, and Clarks.

The acquisition of these nine stores signifies GAB’s dedication to revitalizing the Scotch & Soda brand in Belgium. The stores in Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges are all well-established and cherished locations, and GAB’s commitment to maintaining their unique character while bringing fresh energy is expected to be well received by the local fashion community.

As the stores prepare to reopen in autumn 2024, customers can look forward to experiencing the same beloved Scotch & Soda style, enhanced by GAB’s innovative approach. The integration of these stores into GAB’s portfolio underscores the group’s strategic vision to expand and strengthen its presence in the European fashion market.

The news of this acquisition is a positive development for the Scotch & Soda brand, which has faced challenges in recent years. GAB’s proven track record in the fashion industry and their history with renowned brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein bode well for the future of Scotch & Soda in Belgium.

With this acquisition, GAB not only preserves the heritage of Scotch & Soda but also sets the stage for a renewed and vibrant presence in the Belgian fashion scene. The reopening of these stores is eagerly anticipated and marks a significant milestone in the brand’s journey.
