Medical Experts Discuss Potential Cancer Diagnosis for Princess Kate
A prominent cancer expert has shared insights into the potential diagnosis of Princess Kate’s recent health revelation.
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has openly discussed her ongoing preventative chemotherapy treatment, following a significant health scare. In a heartfelt video statement, she detailed the “enormous shock” and the difficult period her family faced after discovering cancerous cells post-abdominal surgery.
“In January, I had a major abdominal surgery in London, believing the issue was benign,” she stated. “Thankfully, the surgery went well, but subsequent tests indicated the presence of cancer, leading to my current preventative chemotherapy regimen.”
Leading medical figures have now offered their professional assessments regarding the type and origin of Kate’s cancer. Dr. Marc Siegel, a clinical professor at NYU Langone Medical Center, shared with Fox News his discussions with several renowned oncologists about the princess’s diagnosis.
Dr. Siegel revealed, “After consulting with numerous leading oncologists, there’s a consensus that the Princess may have had either an early-stage colon cancer, which was surgically removed, or possibly an incidental finding of early ovarian, uterine, or cervical cancer.”
There has been past speculation about Kate possibly suffering from Crohn’s disease, a chronic condition affecting the digestive tract and increasing the risk of colon or bowel cancer. “The need for surgery in Crohn’s disease cases often leads to the accidental discovery of cancer,” Dr. Siegel explained.
He leans towards a diagnosis of colon or bowel cancer for the Princess, noting her current lack of hair loss—a common side effect of chemotherapy for gynecological cancers. Early-stage chemotherapy for colon cancer usually does not cause hair loss, he added.
Dr. Siegel emphasized the positive implication of “preventative” chemotherapy, suggesting the cancer was likely completely removed, potentially through bowel resection, and the treatment aims to prevent recurrence.
“While there’s significant interest in Princess Kate’s health, it’s important to maintain respect for her privacy and show empathy,” Dr. Siegel remarked, stressing the hopeful nature of her treatment plan.
