Shock Exit from Emmerdale Daisy Campbell Reflects on Leaving Soap and Embraces New Role on Big Brother Spin-Off

Daisy Campbell, known for her role as Amelia Spencer on Emmerdale, has been an integral part of the soap since 2011, taking on dramatic storylines that won her a loyal fan base. From her character’s journey as a teenage mom with Samson Dingle’s child to witnessing her father Dan’s imprisonment after a tragic accident, Amelia has faced numerous challenges. Her character’s intense relationship with abusive Tom King further added to her storyline’s depth, as friends and family in the village tried to intervene.

In October, Daisy opened up about her departure, telling The Mirror that it “wasn’t [her] choice to leave Emmerdale,” adding, “Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known. I’ve spent the whole of my childhood growing up in the soap, and it felt daunting.” She explained that the decision made sense as her on-screen family had left and her character had few remaining connections to the village.

As her final episodes are set to air before Christmas, Daisy has already secured her next venture. She recently joined Big Brother: Late and Live, a new spin-off of the popular reality show on ITV2, where a panel of celebrity fans, including Daisy, discuss each night’s main show events with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best. Will introduced her enthusiastically to the audience, saying, “All the way from Emmerdale Farm and ready to dish the dirt, it’s Daisy Campbell!” The panel enjoyed a lively discussion, including a humorous critique of Big Brother’s weekly task, where housemates posed as houseplants to test their ability to show personal growth.

Daisy appeared excited and upbeat about her new role, fully embracing the high-energy environment of Late and Live. The soap-world connections on the show didn’t end with Daisy. Fellow Emmerdale and Coronation Street alum Emma Morgan, an Altrincham-based former Page 3 model, is currently competing in the Big Brother house as Head of House, a role that grants her extra privileges and influence over nominations.

Daisy’s shift from dramatic storylines in Emmerdale to commentary on reality television marks a new chapter in her career, one she seems ready to embrace with enthusiasm. Reflecting on her exit from Emmerdale, she said that while her departure was initially a shock, she’s looking forward to new opportunities outside the soap that shaped much of her young life. Fans can catch her final Emmerdale scenes and her debut on Big Brother: Late and Live, where she’s already proving herself as an entertaining and insightful addition to the panel.
