Coleen Nolan has opened up about her close friend and Loose Women colleague Ruth Langsford’s journey following her split from Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women star, who holds Ruth in high esteem both personally and professionally, expressed unwavering support for her friend during this difficult period.
In a heartfelt conversation, Coleen stated, “Ruth is one of my best friends. Me and Ruth are always texting and phoning, and if the show ended tomorrow, I know we’d still be friends.” Her words underscore the deep bond between the two women, highlighting their constant communication and enduring friendship beyond the confines of their professional environment.
Discussing Ruth’s handling of the divorce, Coleen praised her resilience and grace. “She’s been amazing. I’m not one to give advice, but I’ve just been there when she’s wanted to vent or wanted to just talk about it. I really admire her, she’s been so classy through the whole thing and just got on with it,” Coleen shared. Her admiration for Ruth’s composed demeanor during the tumultuous time reflects the strong support system they share.
Additionally, Coleen commented on Ruth’s remarkable transformation post-divorce. “She’s also had such a glow-up. She looks better than I think I’ve seen her in years, she looks like she’s lost 10 years. Not that she didn’t look great before, but now she looks fabulous and she’s working really hard and she’s just getting on with it,” Coleen observed. This positive change not only highlights Ruth’s personal growth but also serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges.
The duo has been mutually supporting each other through their respective personal upheavals. Coleen has recently navigated the end of her relationship with Michael Jones and dealt with the heartbreaking loss of her sister, Linda Nolan. Linda passed away at the age of 65 from secondary breast cancer, surrounded by loved ones, according to Lancs Live.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Coleen detailed the final moments with her sister: “My daughter Ciara and I sat with her and we said everything we needed to say to each other. She told us how much she loved us and we told her we loved her. I think she knew it would be the last time she’d see us, but there were no tears.” She continued, describing Linda’s strength despite her illness, “Although she had double pneumonia and was on oxygen, she was cracking jokes, being her usual funny self and eating the chocolate people had brought her. She wanted to hear about my new grandson and I showed her lots of photos of him.”
Coleen also shared the poignant last words exchanged with Linda: “When I left that evening, I told her I’d come and visit the next day and she said, ‘Oh, you don’t have to’ and I said, ‘I know, but I will’ and then she said, ‘Col, I really love you’,” the TV presenter revealed. These touching moments highlight the deep familial bonds and the emotional support Coleen provides to her loved ones.
Following Linda’s passing, Coleen has detailed plans for her sister’s funeral, which will honor Linda’s vibrant personality and love for showbiz. “Her coffin is pure showbiz – bright pink and sparkly, just as she wanted. The one thing my sister loved was bling – her trainers had bling on them, her handbags, her tops, her walking stick – so it feels right that she has a glittery pink coffin,” Coleen explained. This unique tribute reflects Linda’s spirited character and her love for all things glamorous.
As Coleen and Ruth navigate their personal lives amidst public scrutiny, their friendship remains a cornerstone of support and resilience. Coleen’s openness about Ruth’s divorce and her own personal losses provides a relatable and inspiring narrative for fans, showcasing the strength of friendship and the importance of leaning on loved ones during challenging times.
