ITV The Chase Fans ‘Demand Proof’ After Contestant’s Age Leaves Viewers Stunned

Viewers of The Chase were left in disbelief during Tuesday’s (January 14) episode as they struggled to accept a contestant’s age. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the popular quiz show featured four new hopefuls—Sammie, Jane, Winston, and Daniel—taking on the formidable chaser Darragh “The Menace” Ennis.

While the competition promised high stakes, it was 62-year-old Winston who stole the spotlight before the game even got underway. Fans couldn’t believe how youthful Winston looked, flooding social media platform X with their astonishment.

One viewer exclaimed, “No way is he 62. I demand to see the evidence.” Another shared, “I’m the same age as Winston!! Yet he looks 40 years younger than me???” Winston’s stylish appearance also drew admiration, with a fan writing, “Winston looks so cool. Great style”, reports the Liverpool Echo. Another shocked viewer joked, “Winston’s 62—sixty-two??? He looks about 25!”

Winston’s youthful appearance wasn’t the only topic of discussion, as fans also commented on his performance. He and fellow contestant Sammie managed to scrape into the final, much to the disbelief of viewers who felt chaser Darragh could have caught them both. One fan quipped, “Winston looks fantastic for his age, but like Sammie, he was jammy AF! #TheChase.”

While Winston and Sammie managed to secure their spots, it was player number three, Daniel, who sparked chaos among fans. With his charm and solid general knowledge, Daniel seemed like a strong contender. However, his journey came to an abrupt end when he failed to choose an answer in time, leading to his elimination.

Fans were quick to express their disappointment on X. One viewer noted, “I always know when someone’s going to run out of time. They clearly aren’t even hovering over the button”, reported by the Express. Another commented, “Running out of time is an unforgivable offence.” A third fan lamented, “Gutted. Daniel was a top bloke, really wanted him to go through.”

The episode was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Winston’s ageless looks, Sammie’s close calls, and Daniel’s untimely exit keeping viewers engaged. While the final round didn’t yield the desired big win, Winston’s unexpected youthful appearance ensured the episode will be remembered for reasons beyond the gameplay.
