Carol McGiffin slams Loose Women as “Boring” and “Too Woke” in Scathing Critique

Carol McGiffin has furiously branded her former show Loose Women as “boring” in a scathing nine-word swipe. The 64-year-old announced her departure from the ITV daytime show last year in a surprise move but later admitted she was forced to “step away” due to a “difficult issue.”

In an interview with GB News following her exit, Carol revealed she was suffering from “too much stress” during contract negotiations and criticized the show for becoming “too woke.” In a new interview with Woman’s Own, Carol reiterated that there is still no love lost between her and the ITV show, insisting her departure was due to an unworkable contract that “no one in their right mind would have signed.”

Despite earlier claims that she “didn’t miss” Loose Women and was tired of the “wokeness,” Carol confessed she did miss the show and was disappointed to leave. However, her heartbreak over leaving her old friends isn’t enough to consider a return. In a definitive statement, she declared, “I don’t regret leaving, I don’t fit in there anymore.”

Carol, who joined Loose Women in 2001, criticized the show for pandering too much to “offended” viewers. She admitted to occasionally watching the show to “remind myself that I made the right decision.” “It was once a great job,” she said but noted that she only keeps in touch with a few former co-presenters. She still meets up with Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, and Jane Moore but revealed she upset some panelists by stating she didn’t think of them as friends. “Some I have nothing in common with,” she boldly stated, adding that they were “just people I work with.”

Carol also keeps in touch with Ruth Langsford but confessed she hasn’t reached out since news broke of Ruth’s divorce from Eamonn Holmes. “She’ll be inundated and won’t want to hear from me right now,” she told OK! in June, told The Mirror.

Speaking to Best magazine earlier this year, Carol elaborated on the contract issues that led to her departure. She described it as a “difficult issue” she had been dealing with since January. “The problem was, ITV was insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say no thanks,” she explained.

Carol McGiffin’s candid revelations highlight the challenges she faced with Loose Women and underscore her firm stance on not returning to a show she feels no longer aligns with her values and expectations.
