Carol Kirkwood Mysteriously Absent from BBC Breakfast—Co-Star Drops Surprising Announcement!

Carol Kirkwood, a beloved BBC Breakfast weather presenter, was noticeably absent from Monday’s episode, and the 62-year-old is expected to remain off-screen for the next few weeks. In her absence, meteorologist Matt Taylor has stepped in to deliver the weather updates.

Taylor, 46, took to social media platform X to share the news, posting, “Good morning all! I’ll be looking after most of your @BBCBreakfast weather forecasts for the next 3 weeks. It’s a humid start to the week too, with rain for some. Thunderstorms are possible for a few in the Met Office YELLOW warning area.”

Fans quickly welcomed Taylor, sharing warm messages on his post. One viewer commented, “Good morning Matt, have a wonderful day,” while another noted, “The weather has definitely been unpredictable.”

Kirkwood’s absence may have caught some by surprise, as she has been a cherished figure on BBC Breakfast since joining the network in 1998. However, in recent months, Carol made an exciting career announcement beyond her television work.

In July, the popular weather presenter shared that she had ventured into writing, with her latest novel set to be released. Carol, who married Steve Randall in December last year, gave fans a glimpse into her new project, sharing the cover of her fourth book, Once Upon a Time in Venice, on social media. Expressing her excitement, she wrote, “So thrilled that my fourth book ‘Once Upon a Time in Venice’ is out TODAY! This would not be happening without all your support. THANK YOU @HarperFiction @katebradleySW6 xxx.”

Fans responded enthusiastically, with one writing, “Congratulations Carol. Wishing you great success,” while another added, “Oooh yaaay! Can’t wait to get it. Super excited about this one!” Another simply said, “Congratulations!” Set against the enchanting backdrop of Venice, Once Upon a Time in Venice follows the intertwined lives of three characters as they navigate hidden dangers that threaten their hopes and dreams. While fans of BBC Breakfast may miss Carol’s weather updates in the coming weeks, her latest literary venture promises to keep her followers engaged with a thrilling new story.
