Britain Faces Weekend Weather Chaos as Snow and Storms Hit 29 Cities

Get ready, Britain – winter is about to hit hard! Weather maps from WXCharts predict that snow, heavy rain, and strong winds will sweep across the UK this weekend, bringing a proper wintry blast to 29 cities.
The latest forecast suggests the snow will start late Friday night (February 8) and continue to 9 pm on Saturday (February 9), with temperatures set to plunge.
Which Areas Will Be Hit?
If you’re in England, brace yourself! Snow is expected in 25 cities, including:
- Midlands & North – Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield, and more
- South & West – Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, Hereford
- London & Surrounding Areas – The capital is also in for a wintry surprise!
Meanwhile, Scotland won’t be spared either, with Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunfermline, Perth, and Stirling set to see snowfall.
Even if your area isn’t on the list, don’t rule out surprise snow showers – the wintry mix could stretch further.
How Cold Will It Get?
It will be proper chilly, with temperatures dropping as low as -3°C in central Scotland. Elsewhere, expect:
- Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland – Between -2°C and 0°C
- England – A slightly “warmer” 0°C to 2°C
And with strong easterly and southeasterly winds picking up, it’s going to feel even colder than the numbers suggest.
What’s the Met Office Saying?
The Met Office has warned that while Thursday looks relatively calm, conditions will change rapidly from Friday to Sunday (February 7-9).

It will also be a frosty start to the day, though many of us should see some sunshine to compensate ☀️

High pressure will drift away, allowing cold, wintry showers to take over as strong breezes move across the UK. Southern and southwestern parts might even see a mix of sleet or snow.
Will There Be Frost?
Overnight frost is expected, especially in areas where skies stay clear. But in windier regions, the breeze might prevent a proper deep freeze from setting in.
