Boris Johnson and Wife Carrie Welcome Baby Number Nine
Boris Johnson is officially a dad of nine. The former UK Prime Minister and his wife Carrie just welcomed a new baby girl into the family—and the announcement has social media swooning. Carrie Johnson, 37, revealed in a sweet Instagram post that their daughter, named Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson, was born on May 21.
This marks the couple’s fourth child together and Boris Johnson’s ninth overall. And in true Johnson style, the celebration included cocktails and pizza, with Carrie gushing over their new arrival while snuggling her baby girl on the couch.
“Welcome to the world Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson born on 21st May,” Carrie wrote alongside a photo of the couple enjoying pizza at University College London Hospital. “Aka Pops, Pop Tart. I can’t believe how pretty and tiny you are. Feel so incredibly lucky. We are all totally smitten.”
Carrie couldn’t hold back the emotion in her message, writing, “Not sure I’ve slept a minute since you were born as can’t stop looking at how completely lovely you are.”
She made sure to give a heartfelt shoutout to the team at University College London Hospital, writing, “Thank you so much to the amazing maternity team at UCLH and particularly to Asma and Patrick who have looked after me so well through all my pregnancies. I really cannot thank you guys enough.”
This new baby girl joins big siblings Wilf, age five, Romy, three, and 22-month-old Frank. According to Carrie, Romy is especially thrilled to finally have a little sister, and matching dresses are apparently already part of the plan. “Wilf, Romy and Frank are utterly delighted, particularly Romy who was desperate for a little sister,” she wrote. “Bring on the matching dresses.”
The Johnsons got married in May 2021, and their growing family continues to be in the spotlight—especially since Boris has five other children from previous relationships. He shares four children with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler and has another daughter from a past relationship with art consultant Helen Macintyre.
Still, this moment feels like a quiet celebration. Carrie closed out her post with a relaxed, relatable snapshot of new motherhood: “A final gang member. Back from hospital now and time for cocktails and pizza with my tiny baby snoozing on my lap. Life doesn’t get any better.”
