This Morning host Alison Hammond recently made a playful remark about her love life, addressing ongoing engagement rumors and reflecting on her relationship with co-host Dermot O’Leary. The 49-year-old presenter, currently dating 27-year-old masseur David Putman, has found herself at the center of speculation about her romantic status, told the Mirror.
Back in May, rumors of Alison’s engagement began circulating after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger while hosting the show. Shutting down the gossip live on air, Alison humorously said, “Let me swap it over, because we don’t want those rumors going out there, do you know what I mean? Not just yet. Maybe one day, who knows.”
As she prepares to return to the show next week, Alison joked about her close bond with Dermot O’Leary, calling it her “longest relationship” to date. After being reminded that they have been co-hosting This Morning for three years, Alison quipped, “It’s the longest relationship I’ve ever been in!” Dermot echoed the sentiment, saying, “It does feel like those three years have gone so quickly, but at the same time, like we’ve been together forever!”
Alison publicly acknowledged her relationship with David Putman earlier this year on Instagram. Despite recent rumors of a split, the couple seems to be going strong. On the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett, Alison discussed the challenges of dating while being a parent to her 19-year-old son, Aiden. She shared, “I think it’s more difficult. I think he’s more verbal now that he’s older. He will want to know who this person is and he’ll want to meet them… it’s a lot harder.”
She added that Aiden has taken an interest in her current partner, saying, “The person that I’m seeing at the moment, he’s, like, on his Instagram. He’s like, ‘Yeah, I like him. I like him. He’s not too in your face.’ Do you know what I mean? Aiden’s on it.” Before her relationship with David, Alison dated landscape gardener Ben Hawkins for two years, and she was previously engaged to Aiden’s father, Noureddine Boufaied. Contrary to reports, they never married.
In a candid moment on This Morning, Alison opened up about her past split from Boufaied, telling Paloma Faith, “You’re not a failure, listen, I felt that failure when I split up with my son’s dad. His dad’s now moved on, he’s married, he’s got three other children, they’re part of our family as well. You don’t know how it’s going to work out, it’s part of your story.”
