Ellen DeGeneres suffers from aftereffects of cancel culture, says former staff
Ellen DeGeneres announced his year that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will say goodbye after the 19th season. Although she said her reason why she wants to, a former staff gave a different perspective on the matter. A former staff of Ellen DeGeneres slammed the host and revealed the real reason why the host wants the show to end.
In an interview with BuzzFeed News, the former staff said that the host’s recent decision was an aftereffect.
“I think this is ‘consequence culture.’ People are like, ‘cancel culture,’ but no, this is a consequence of somebody and an institution that got away with fostering a super unhealthy and toxic work environment for a really long time,” the ex-worker said.
The same staff added that DeGeneres and her team made the situation look like they were only making changes. Ellen DeGeneres fired some people and made tWitch the executive producer position. Still, this move highlighted how they failed to show diversity and blamed others instead.
Upon discovering DeGeneres’ decision, the ex-staff said that ending the show is what the host and the series deserve.
DeGeneres trying to get away with negativity
More employees gave their opinion at the end of DeGeneres’ show. In fact, other ex-staff said that the host only showed self-centric reactions. To save herself, DeGeneres, allegedly, wants to leave to get rid of negativities.
“You have a billion bucks in your bank account. It didn’t hurt you that deeply. This hurt other people’s livelihoods, working people who are taking care of their families and who don’t have the fame and power and money that she has,” the staff went on.
The same ex-worker slammed the host for calling the allegations stupid since it only means she does not take it seriously. It only insults and degrades several people who worked with her in the past years.
Some people also believe that if the issue somehow went silent, DeGeneres would just have shrugged it off and continue working. This caused other employees that the show’s ratings played a huge role in the decision.
They compared DeGeneres to Oprah Winfrey who has been doing her show for decades. Since the issues came out, the host failed to sign on for more years again.
DeGeneres revealed that she will be putting an end to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after its 19th season. In her statement, she said that she no longer feels the same excitement as she does during the first years of the show.
