Kylie Jenner’s ex assistant recalls the moment she decided to quit ‘I don’t want to go get your laptop’

Kylie Jenner’s former assistant Victoria Villarroel is finally sharing the surprisingly simple moment that made her realize it was time to leave one of the most sought after jobs in Hollywood.

Villarroel opened up about the experience during a recent episode of the Better Half podcast, which she co hosts with Stassie Karanikolaou. According to her, the realization happened during a casual exchange with Jenner in the kitchen after years of working closely together.

At that point Villarroel had already spent five years working side by side with the reality star and beauty mogul. Being around Jenner constantly meant their relationship had started to feel more like a friendship than a traditional boss employee dynamic.

“I remember like it was yesterday. This was year five. We were in the kitchen and [Jenner] was like, ‘Vic, I need my laptop, it’s upstairs,’ and I was like, ‘Oof, who’s gonna get that?’” she recalled with a laugh.

Instead of immediately jumping to help like an assistant typically would, Villarroel found herself joking in a way that made her pause and think.

She continued, “I said something crazy like, ‘Oof, that seems far, I don’t want to go get your laptop.’”

That small moment made something click. Villarroel explained that when you work that closely with someone every day the lines between professional and personal life can slowly blur.

The realization made her start questioning whether it was time to move on and try something new, even though the job itself was one many people dream about.

She admitted the decision was nerve racking at first. “I remember being so nervous and thinking, ‘Am I making the right decision? What if I’m leaving the best job I could ever have?’”

At the same time she said people around her kept reminding her how rare the opportunity was and encouraged her to stay.

She noted that people were “in [her] ear” telling her not to leave the job that “people would die for.”

When she finally spoke with Jenner about stepping away from the role, Villarroel said the response was nothing but supportive.

“She is the most understanding person, she was like, ‘Oh my God, Vic, I want you to thrive, and I’m going to be here supporting you, and I love you so much.’”

Villarroel officially left the position in January 2020 and later built a career as an influencer. Even after the professional change the two women remained close friends.

“Kylie and Victoria are still friends and close,” a source told Us Weekly. “Kylie doesn’t have any bad feelings about Victoria going off to do her own thing and is supportive.”
