Bill Maher Reacts to US President Trump’s EPA Rollback Effort and Warns of Climate Consequences

Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher slammed President Donald Trump and his administration over the “biggest d*ck move in history,” sounding the alarm about the Environmental Protection Agency’s gutting of carbon regulation.

On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher didn’t hold back as he went after Trump officials for what he sees as a full-on denial of climate reality. According to Maher, the administration is actively working to strip the government’s ability to regulate greenhouse gases, even while the science around carbon emissions and global warming remains widely accepted.

The episode featured guest Jonathan Haidt, a social psychologist and professor at NYU Stern School of Business. Haidt is also the co-author of “The Amazing Generation: Your Guide to Fun and Freedom in a Screen-Filled World.” While Haidt’s work focuses heavily on how technology shapes younger generations, Maher’s opening monologue veered hard into politics and environmental policy.

Joining the panel were Stephanie Ruhle, host of MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour” and co-host of the YouTube series “It’s Happening with Velshi & Ruhle,” along with retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, former United States National Security Advisor. McMaster is also the author and a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

Maher devoted part of his monologue to mocking Trump officials for denying the effects of greenhouse gases as they stripped the government’s power to regulate them. His frustration centered on what he framed as an intentional dismantling of environmental protections, especially around carbon emissions, which have been at the heart of climate policy debates for years.

The segment set the tone for a night that mixed cultural commentary with political critique, as Maher continued his trademark approach of combining jokes with blunt warnings. And judging by the way he framed the EPA rollback, Maher clearly sees this as more than just another Washington policy fight. He made it sound like a move that could have serious long-term consequences.
