TV presenter left red-faced as husband’s on-camera mishap derails live interview
An unexpected background moment on a live TV broadcast has turned into a viral sensation, after the husband of an S4C presenter was spotted crawling across the floor during a televised video call.
The incident happened during an episode of the Welsh-language magazine show Heno, aired on Monday, January 5. Viewers were told at the top of the programme that former footballer Owain Tudur Jones would be presenting alone, as severe frost and snow across Wales had disrupted his co-host’s travel plans. Elin Fflur was due to return after a short break spent filming another season of S4C’s Amour & Mynydd in the French Alps.
Elin appeared on the programme via video link and explained her situation to viewers. “Where better to be stuck? It’s lovely here. Unfortunately, I was hoping to travel down from the north to the south today, but it’s just difficult on the roads, of course,” she said.
But while the interview focused on Elin’s absence, audiences quickly became distracted by movement in the background. Her husband, Jason, could be seen crawling along the floor behind her, clearly attempting to stay out of shot. The effort backfired, and instead of going unnoticed, the moment captured viewers’ attention and soon spread across social media.
Clips shared by Heno on Instagram were viewed countless times, with many users describing the moment as “too funny” and joking that it looked like there was an intruder in the house. During the live call, Elin apologised for the noise in the background and said she hoped to be back in Llanelli the following day to continue filming.
Owain addressed the moment on air at the end of the segment, reassuring his co-host. “You don’t need to apologise, Elin, hopefully I’ll be with you tomorrow, and we’ll laugh and enjoy the clip we just saw of Jason crawling on the floor by the side of the piano,” he said.
Later that evening, Heno leaned into the humour by sharing the clip on its official social media accounts with the caption “Nid ci, nid cath, ond Jason… O, ni’n caru teledu byw.” The phrase translates to “not a dog, not a cat, but Jason… Oh, we love live telly.” Popular Welsh meme page Huns Cymru also reposted the video, which quickly attracted more than a thousand likes.
The show later shared a second clip featuring Jason’s now-famous crawl, adding the caption “Neb: Jason,” meaning “Nobody: Jason.” Elin returned to the studio the next day, co-hosting alongside Owain on Tuesday, January 6. The pair revisited the viral moment during the broadcast. “Well, amazing. Jason, or Spiderman or a crab, as I like to call it. He’s gone viral, Elin,” Owain joked. Elin responded with good humour, saying, “I’ve been trying to go viral for years, and he’s done it just like that. It was a moment, wasn’t it?”
