Prince Harry Injured During Snow Polo Match in Aspen

Prince Harry experienced a brief scare on the polo field this week while competing in a high-profile tournament in Colorado, but quickly brushed it aside and continued playing. The Duke of Sussex was injured during the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in Aspen on Thursday, December 18, according to a source who spoke with Page Six.

The incident reportedly occurred mid-match when the mallet of another player accidentally struck Harry’s hand. The player involved was identified as the son of Harry’s close friend and internationally known polo star, Nacho Figueras. “They paused for a second, and he shook it off,” a witness told the outlet. Despite the impact, Harry, 41, remained in the game and played through the discomfort.

His team ultimately lost the match, but the injury did not appear to seriously affect his performance or ability to continue. According to the same source, the event announcer referred to the prince as “Harry Wales,” a name traditionally used during his time as a working royal and derived from his former title as Prince of Wales’ son.

Though Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020, the nickname occasionally resurfaces in sporting and informal settings. Another source said Harry had also played polo the day before the championship and kept his participation low-key. “No one knew he was coming,” the source said, suggesting his appearance was a surprise even to some attendees.

Harry was joined on the field by Figueras and Figueras’ sons, and the group was also seen skiing together ahead of the match. While Harry was competing in Aspen, his wife, Meghan Markle, did not attend the event. Instead, the Duchess of Sussex has recently drawn attention for an unrelated moment in her new Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration.

The holiday-themed program sparked conversation after viewers noticed Markle’s late beagle, Guy, appearing in several scenes. Earlier this year, Markle revealed that Guy had died in January 2025, making his presence in the special a point of confusion for fans.

In one scene, Guy briefly wanders through the kitchen as Markle, 44, changes into Christmas pajamas around the 17-minute mark. He appears again at her feet while she prepares brunch. Earlier in the episode, Markle hangs a cross-stitched ornament honoring Guy on the Christmas tree, a moment that subtly acknowledges his death and highlights the mixed filming timeline of the special.

Together, the moments offered a glimpse into two very different weeks for the Sussexes: one marked by a minor sports injury brushed off in the snow, and the other by a sentimental on-screen reminder of a beloved pet.
