Cheryl Hines Shuts Down Speculation About Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 2028 Presidential Run
Cheryl Hines, actress and wife of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., recently put rumors to rest about her husband’s possible 2028 presidential run. When asked by NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas whether Robert planned to run, Hines was quick to respond, “Gosh, he’s not going to run for president.”
Despite the strong denial, Hines admitted she had her own doubts when Robert first expressed an interest in politics. “I didn’t think he was going to go into politics, and the next thing you know, he’s telling me he wants to run,” she shared, as reported by The Guardian.
This clears up any lingering speculation about Kennedy’s future political ambitions, but the 2028 race is already shaping up to be quite the spectacle. Some of President Trump’s biggest allies, like Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have also been named as possible contenders for the Republican nomination.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. himself has been on quite the political journey. After running for president as a Democrat in 2024, he switched to an independent bid for the same race. Later that year, he surprised many by backing Trump’s presidential bid and even accepted a position as Trump’s HHS Secretary. This choice raised eyebrows, particularly due to Kennedy’s controversial views on health and vaccines, which have sparked much debate.
In other health-related news, the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) made a significant decision on Friday. The committee voted 8-3 to recommend that infants born to mothers who have tested positive for hepatitis B receive a birth dose of the vaccine. However, local and state health leaders have made it clear that they do not plan to follow this recommendation.
While the news about Kennedy’s 2028 run may be a topic for future discussion, it’s clear that his political path remains unpredictable. But as for now, Cheryl Hines seems confident that her husband won’t be running for president in the next election cycle.
