Eamonn Holmes Reveals ‘I’m Not OK’ as He Returns to GB News
Eamonn Holmes made a dramatic return to GB News this week and wasted no time sharing the frightening reason behind his recent absence – a nasty fall that left him fearing the worst.
The 65-year-old presenter was back in the studio on Tuesday morning when his co-host Ellie Costello began introducing the political headlines. But Eamonn cheekily cut in before she could finish, saying: “Never mind Downing Street! What about me?!”, reported the Express.
Ellie welcomed him back with a warm smile, saying, “I’m glad you’re ok.” But Eamonn wasn’t having it: “I didn’t say I was ok, but anyway.”
He then went on to explain what really happened over the weekend – and it sounds like it gave him (and those around him) a proper scare. “I fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn’t get up,” he said. “Luckily, my phone was within reach, and so I was able to phone someone, and they came.”
That someone ended up calling an ambulance after seeing the state Eamonn was in. He described the impact as “the worst bang to my head and shoulder,” revealing he’d slipped on the wet bathroom floor, feet in the air, and landed hard on his back and head.
“It brings me to a point,” he added with typical wit. “Why do bathroom floors have to be hard, cold and wet? Why do they have to be slippy? That’s what I’m trying to say.”
Ellie agreed, clearly concerned, as Eamonn admitted this wasn’t the first time he’s taken a tumble in the bathroom. But this one hit differently. “I went down and I thought, ‘I’m dead’. I have never had a bang to the head as sore and as powerful as that before,” he said. “I lay there and I thought, ‘Where’s the blood?’ There was nothing – no blood, no split, nothing like that.”
Ellie told him she was surprised to see him back so soon, calling him “a soldier,” to which Eamonn replied that he did need time, but wanted to show up and thank viewers for their kind messages.
“I was very worried about me,” he admitted, reminding viewers that even seasoned broadcasters aren’t invincible.
The episode was a scary reminder of how quickly things can go wrong — and how lucky he feels to have walked away from it.
