Countryfile’s Anita Rani Breaks Silence on Love Life with Five-Word Bombshell After Split

Television presenter Anita Rani has opened up about her journey after her split from husband Bhupi Rehal, revealing she is taking life “one step at a time” as she embarks on new adventures. The Countryfile star, 47, married technology executive Rehal in 2009, but after 14 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in 2023.
Reflecting on the split, Anita described it as “sad” but admitted they had simply “drifted apart.” Having covered high-profile royal events, including the coronation of King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Anita is now navigating life as a single woman—a situation she has called “uncharted territory.” However, she remains optimistic, describing her future as a “blank slate” full of possibilities.
Determined to embrace her newfound independence, Anita took her first solo holiday since the split, choosing a snowboarding trip to Italy. Speaking to The Times, she shared how the experience gave her a fresh perspective on her life and future. “I am not afraid of solo adventures or being alone,” Anita said.
“Having relied on myself from a young age, I could not wait to be independent. It took me a while, but here I am, able to do whatever I want without having to think about anyone else. “I am not planning on this being a permanent state—I like the idea of love and sharing my life—but one step at a time.” Anita described her single status as the beginning of “chapter two” in her life.
She explained that choosing snowboarding for her first solo holiday in her forties felt particularly symbolic, likening it to her new journey of independence. “Hurling myself down a mountain at speed felt like a metaphor for my life right now,” she admitted. However, she also cherished the opportunity to “breathe for the first time” and “do what I truly want.”
Reflecting on the challenges she faced last year, Anita confessed that 2024 had been “traumatic,” but it also made her more appreciative of what she has. Speaking to Woman magazine, she said: “Being alive, healthy, and that my family is safe.” “It’s been a very dark, very traumatic year. I’m just going to take a moment to remember what I’ve got. We’ve got so much to be grateful for.”
As for love, Anita is keeping an open mind. When asked if she hopes to find romance in the new year, she smiled and said, “That would be nice, wouldn’t it?” Anita will be appearing on Richard Osman’s House of Games tonight, competing against fellow champions Edith Bowman, Rhys James, and Simon Rimmer. The show airs at 6 p.m. on BBC Two.
