Kayleigh, a mother of five, had moved to South Wales seeking a fresh start after struggling with depression and substance abuse. Her stepmother, Tracey Cornwell, shared an emotional tribute, saying, “We know there was no way Kayleigh would deliberately or intentionally put herself in the path of a car.” Jason, who battled ADHD and past drug dependency, was also working to rebuild his life. His mother, Angela, heartbreakingly revealed, “He was getting his life back and doing good before he was tragically and suddenly taken away from us.”

On the night of the crash, Kayleigh and Jason had been heavily intoxicated after taking ketamine and other substances. A wrong turn on a bus led them and a friend, Leon Cole, to wander the streets. Jonathan Owens, the driver of the Ford Focus, was on his way home with his family when the accident occurred.
