Ruth Langsford ‘Dreading Christmas’ After Split from Eamonn Holmes
0It has been a year of major changes for Ruth Langsford, marking her first Christmas as a single woman following her unexpected split from husband Eamonn Holmes. The couple, who had been married for 14 years, shocked their fans in May when they announced they were separating and entering the “process of divorcing.” Once a beloved pair on British daytime TV, Ruth and Eamonn co-hosted This Morning for 15 years before their departure in November 2020, reported by the Mirror.
As Ruth approaches the festive season, she is embracing her career and focusing on building a life beyond her previous professional and personal partnership with Eamonn. Her post-divorce transformation has drawn attention, with many praising her “radiant divorce glow-up.”
However, Christmas may bring new challenges for Ruth, as she faces the emotional weight of spending the holiday without her former husband, especially knowing that Eamonn, 64, may be celebrating with his new partner, Katie Alexander, 42. A source close to Ruth told OK! Magazine, “Ruth is dreading Christmas coming up because it will be her first one apart from Eamonn – who could be spending it with his new partner.”
The insider continued, “This Christmas means creating different memories. Ruth and Eamonn are positively co-parenting Jack, but he’s at the age where he might want to do something different at Christmas, and that’s worrying Ruth.”
The source also mentioned the emotional toll the separation may be taking on their 22-year-old son, Jack. “He’s no doubt hurting too, seeing his mum and dad go through this,” the source said. Ruth, however, is trying to maintain strength for herself and her family. “She knows the first Christmas will always be the hardest, and she just wants to get through it,” the source added.
In the meantime, Ruth’s recent trip to Australia, where she appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! spin-off show Unpacked, was described as “incredibly therapeutic.” This trip provided Ruth with a “new sense of purpose and confidence” as she continues her journey of healing. Relationship expert Jesper Jensen noted that such experiences can be beneficial in moving forward emotionally, helping Ruth rebuild after such a significant change.
Despite the challenges, Ruth is looking ahead with a renewed sense of independence and excitement. A source shared with Closer, “Ruth’s sass is definitely back. She’s ready for exciting new adventures and a new man – if and when it’s on her terms.”
Last year, Ruth had an emotional moment on Loose Women, revealing the pain of her son Jack leaving for university. She admitted, “That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out.” This year, Ruth hopes the festive season will be brighter, and she is focusing on creating new, positive memories.
